Star Trek Online...doomed?

Thu Nov 12, 2009, 5:04 PM
  • Listening to: 'Into the Clouds' by The Sound of Arrows
  • Reading: Cryptic's annoucement.
  • Watching: Sanctuary
  • Playing: Star Wars Battlefront
  • Drinking: A warm cup of tea
I've followed STO since I joined the forums almost a year ago. The game had fantastic potential, and I believed it would be the best Star Trek game ever created. I was fond of the Dev Team and I trusted Cryptic would deliver on their promise to create a genuine Star Trek roleplaying experience.
The games Beta has only just started, but now Cryptic has announced the games release date. Star Trek Online goes live on Febuary 2nd,2010(!). That is less than three months away. Cryptic has three months to prepare the game for launch.
How could that be enough time?! Far too many good games are ruined because they were rushed to their release dates. I think the same fate is in store for STO. My faith in the games Dev Team has slowly reduced to nearly nothing in recent months, and this latest bit of news is horrifying. Three months is not even enough time to properly Beta Test, let alone get the game ready for launch.

For everything I'm good at,there is something I want to be better at. I want to be able to perfectly capture memories and flawlessly frame colors and forever immortalize a heartbeat, because that moment will never come again. I have so much in front of me,and so do you. We all have experiences to be cherished, and we should experience some of them together. :)

Our dearworthy Lord said not, Thou shalt not be tempested, thou shalt not be travailed, thou shalt not be afflicted, but He said, Thou shalt not be overcome! :floating:
